FAQs

How long does it last? Decades. We use premium systems and stand behind our work.
Is maintenance hard? No—just routine gutter care and an occasional visual check.
Can you do skylights/solar with this? Yes. We coordinate details so everything stays watertight and warranty-friendly.How long will it last, and what are the warranties?
Composite slate roofs routinely deliver multi-decade service. We install to manufacturer specs so you get the warranty: DaVinci—Lifetime Limited (residential); Brava—50-Year Limited.

What roof pitch do you require?
We install composite slate on roofs 3:12 or steeper. For anything lower, we’ll specify a different system to protect your warranty and water-shedding performance.

Can you install it over my existing shingles?
No—full tear-off only. We remove old layers, repair the deck, and install the correct underlayment, flashings, and ventilation. That’s how you get code compliance, a flat plane, and valid warranties.

What maintenance does it need?
Very little. No sealing or painting—just clear debris, keep gutters flowing, trim overhanging branches, and have flashings checked annually. Tiles are Class 4 impact-rated; if one ever gets damaged, we can replace individual pieces.

Is composite slate compatible with solar panels?
Yes. We coordinate layout with your solar installer and use flashed structural mounts through the decking/rafters, preserving roof integrity and manufacturer requirements. Snow-retention can be added around array edges where needed.

FAQ's

1) What is composite slate siding?
An engineered slate look made from advanced polymers. It gives you the rich texture of real slate without the weight, brittleness, or constant upkeep.

2) Where does it work best on a house?
Front gables, dormers, entry walls, and chimney chases. It adds depth and contrast in the spots people notice first.

3) How long does it last?
Decades. It won’t flake or crumble like stone can, and it stands up to New England’s freeze–thaw, wind, and salt air.

4) Does the color fade?
Color is built into the material and stabilized for UV, so it stays consistent. We help you pick a blend that matches your roof, trim, and neighborhood.

5) What maintenance is needed?
Very little. Rinse occasionally, keep gutters clear, and trim branches. No sealing or painting. If a piece is ever damaged, we can replace just that piece.

6) Is it heavy—will I need structural changes?
No. It’s much lighter than real slate, so you get the look without extra structural work.

7) Can you install it over my existing siding?
We recommend a clean, prepared wall with proper flashing and moisture management. That’s how you get the best look, longest life, and valid warranty.

8) How does it compare on cost?
More than vinyl, less than natural slate or full masonry. It delivers big curb-appeal impact with low maintenance—great value for accent areas.
