This home in Lincoln was ready for a fresh, solid roof. Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights installed the complete CertainTeed Integrity Roof System with Landmark PRO shingles in Charcoal Black — a deep, dimensional color that sharpens the whole house — and re-detailed the chimney flashing while we were at it, because a new roof deserves better than tired flashing.
Scope of Work
After tearing off the old roof, the crew built it back in layers: waterproofing underlayment at the vulnerable eaves and valleys, water-resistant underlayment across the rest of the deck, new drip edge and starter strip, Landmark PRO field shingles, and matching hip and ridge caps. At the chimney, we installed fresh step-and-counterflashing — each shingle course gets its own step flashing piece, capped by counterflashing let into the brick — and confirmed the roof’s ventilation balance before wrapping up.
What We Installed (And Why)
CertainTeed’s Integrity Roof System is a layered defense: waterproofing membrane where wind-driven rain and ice dams attack first, water-resistant underlayment as a second line across the field, and heavyweight Landmark PRO architectural shingles over it all — Class A fire rating, 110 MPH wind warranty, StreakFighter algae resistance, and CertainTeed’s lifetime limited warranty with SureStart protection behind them.
Charcoal Black is a Max Def color that blends deep black with charcoal-gray granule tones, so the roof shows real dimension in sunlight instead of going flat. On this Lincoln home it plays the classic role dark roofs do best — grounding the house, sharpening the trim, and making the whole exterior look crisper than a worn, faded roof ever could.

Good To Know: Why do chimneys leak more than any other part of a roof?
Chimneys are the single most common leak point on a roof — and the culprit is almost always flashing, not shingles. Step flashing has to be woven course-by-course with the shingles, then protected by counterflashing set into the masonry itself. Reusing old, bent flashing under new shingles is a shortcut that shows up as a ceiling stain two winters later. When your roof is replaced, the chimney detail deserves the same fresh start the shingles get.
Why This Approach Works
Roofs don’t fail in the middle of a field of shingles; they fail at the edges, valleys, and penetrations. That’s why the Integrity Roof System concentrates its strongest protection exactly there — and why we re-flash chimneys rather than working around them. Every component, deck to ridge, is new, matched, and installed as one system, which is what keeps water out and the CertainTeed warranty strong.
