Like most Pinnacle roofing projects, the work was completed in a single day — minimizing disruption for the homeowner.
Aquidneck Island wind peeled shingles off this Portsmouth home and left the deck exposed. Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights tarped it the same visit, documented the damage, worked the insurance claim through approval, and rebuilt the roof with CertainTeed Landmark PRO in Max Def Pewterwood.
Scope of Work
Emergency dry-in came first — tarps over the stripped sections so the claim process couldn’t cost the homeowner a ceiling. Once the insurer approved full replacement, the crew tore off the remaining roof and built the system: ice and water shield at eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, new drip edge and starter course, Landmark PRO field shingles, and matching ridge caps.
What We Installed (And Why)
Landmark PRO is CertainTeed’s heavier-spec dual-layer shingle with Max Def color blending. After wind damage, the spec upgrade is the point: more mass and a stronger sealed bond line where the old roof failed. The shingles that come off in a windstorm are almost never the ones that were installed to this standard.
Max Def Pewterwood is Rhode Island’s quiet favorite — a gray-brown driftwood blend that flatters nearly every siding color and reads richer than a flat gray. On an island house that takes weather from the bay on both sides, it pairs looks with a shingle built for the exposure.

Good To Know: Does homeowner’s insurance cover wind damage to a roof?
Usually yes — wind is a covered peril on standard homeowner policies, subject to your deductible. The claim succeeds or fails on documentation and scope: photos of every damaged slope, notes on creased (not just missing) shingles, and a contractor who can speak the adjuster’s language. Timing matters too — report promptly, and get the roof tarped so secondary water damage never muddies the claim.
Why This Approach Works
Tarp fast, document thoroughly, replace as a system. The tarp protects the claim as much as the house; the documentation earns full-replacement scope; and the system rebuild means the new roof starts life stronger than the one the wind took.
