Wind-storm damage gave this Johnston ranch a fresh start: Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights documented the damage, supported the insurance claim, and restored the roof with CertainTeed Landmark in Max Def Weathered Wood — with skylight work folded in while the roof was open.
Scope of Work
After the claim was documented and approved, the crew stripped the storm-damaged roof and rebuilt it as one system: ice and water shield at the eaves and valleys, synthetic underlayment, new drip edge and starter course, Landmark field shingles in Weathered Wood, and fresh ridge caps over restored venting. Skylight glazing above the living space was addressed during the same project, flashed into the new field.
What We Installed (And Why)
CertainTeed Landmark’s two bonded layers and factory sealant line are what stand between a roof and the next windstorm — courses lock to each other as the sealant activates, turning hundreds of individual shingles into a continuous surface. That bond is exactly what aged, brittle roofs have lost by the time wind finds them.
Max Def Weathered Wood is the color for homeowners who want warmth on a gray-siding or earth-tone house — driftwood and cedar tones blended with high-definition contrast. It flatters ranches especially, where the roof is low, close, and always in view.

Good To Know: Why do storms take some roofs on a street and spare others?
Age and adhesion. Shingle wind resistance comes mostly from the sealant bond between courses, and that bond weakens as shingles age and dry. Two identical houses side by side can differ by a decade of roof age — the older roof’s tabs lift, crease, and peel while the newer one holds. If your roof is over 15 years old and your neighbors are getting storm work done, have yours inspected too; damage is often present but not visible from the ground.
Why This Approach Works
Restoring the whole system — sealed starters at the edges, bonded field courses, capped and vented ridge — rebuilds the roof’s aerodynamics, not just its appearance. That is what ‘storm restoration’ should mean.
