Like most Pinnacle roofing projects, the work was completed efficiently — minimizing disruption for the property owner.
When a spring storm swept across Lincoln, a colonial on Barbette Drive was left with a roof that could no longer be trusted to keep the weather out. Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights answered with full storm-damage restoration — documenting the damage for the insurance claim, drying the home in, and rebuilding the roof in CertainTeed Landmark shingles in Weathered Wood.
Scope of Work
Our first move on any wind-and-water event is protection and proof. The crew tarped and dried in the vulnerable areas, then photographed and measured every damaged slope so the homeowner had clean documentation for their adjuster. Once the claim path was clear, we tore the roof off to the deck, replaced any decking that had softened, and laid down a complete water-management system before the new shingles went on. This was storm damage restoration done in the right order — secure the home first, then rebuild it to last.
What We Installed (And Why)
The finished roof is CertainTeed Landmark in Weathered Wood, a dimensional architectural shingle whose blended tan-and-gray tones suit the home’s classic colonial lines. Before the first course was set, we installed ice-and-water shield at the eaves, valleys, and around every penetration, then rolled synthetic underlayment across the field for a secondary weather barrier that won’t wrinkle or tear like old felt.
From there the details do the quiet work: drip edge at the rakes and eaves, starter strips locked along the perimeter for wind resistance, step- and counter-flashing where the roof meets the walls, fresh pipe boots and vents, and a clean ridge cap tying the planes together. Balanced intake-and-exhaust ventilation lets the attic breathe so the new system reaches its full service life. Each of these components is small on its own, but together they form the continuous barrier that keeps a Rhode Island roof watertight through wind, snow, and the freeze-thaw cycles that punish weaker installations.

Good To Know: Will Insurance Cover a Storm-Damaged Roof?
In many cases, yes — wind and storm damage are commonly covered perils, but a claim lives or dies on documentation. That is exactly why we photograph and measure the damage before anyone touches a shingle, and why we meet the adjuster on site when it helps. We don’t file the claim for you, but we make the homeowner’s case easy to approve by handing over clear, organized evidence and standing behind our scope of repair. That preparation often makes the difference between a claim that stalls and one that moves smoothly, and it means the homeowner isn’t left guessing about what their policy actually covers. Our job is to remove the friction so you can focus on getting your roof back.
Why This Approach Works
A storm roof isn’t just a cosmetic fix — it’s the moment to correct whatever let the water in. By stripping to the deck we can see and replace hidden rot rather than roofing over it, and by rebuilding the flashing and underlayment as a single system we close the exact gaps that fail under driving Rhode Island rain. It also protects the homeowner’s investment: a properly restored roof holds its value, satisfies the insurer, and won’t leave the family fighting the same leak next season. The result is a roof that not only passes the claim but performs for decades.
