A Narragansett homeowner called Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights after spotting worn spots and slow water intrusion on a roof that takes a year-round beating from salt air and ocean wind. This Narragansett project was a targeted roof repair rather than a tear-off, restoring the failing details so the home’s existing Georgetown Gray shingles could keep doing their job for years to come.
Scope of Work
Our crew started with a full inspection to trace where water was actually getting in, then focused the work exactly where it was needed. We addressed the compromised flashing and penetration seals, tightened up the low-slope membrane section where it met the pitched planes, and blended in replacement asphalt shingles to match the surrounding Georgetown Gray field. Every step of this roof repair was aimed at stopping the leak at its source and leaving the finished surface looking uniform, not patched.
What We Installed (And Why)
Coastal roofs fail at the details long before the field of shingles wears out, so that is where we concentrated. We reset and resealed the flashing around penetrations, renewed the pipe boots that had gone brittle, and reinforced the seams on the low-slope area so wind-driven rain had nowhere to track. Ice-and-water protection was worked in at the vulnerable transitions where the coastline weather does the most damage.
For the visible repair, we matched new architectural asphalt shingles to the existing Georgetown Gray tone so the finished roof reads as one continuous surface from the ground and from the air. Matching an established color takes a careful eye, and getting it right is what lets a repair extend the life of the roof without announcing itself. The homeowner keeps the roof they have, minus the leak.

Good To Know: Do I Really Need a Full Replacement, or Will a Repair Hold?
Not every leak means a new roof. When the shingle field still has good life left and the trouble is isolated to flashing, boots, seams, or a low-slope section, a properly executed repair is the smarter spend — and it can buy you many more seasons. We tell homeowners honestly which situation they are in. On this Narragansett home the underlying roof was sound, so a focused repair was the right call rather than a replacement the house didn’t need yet.
Why This Approach Works
A repair only lasts if you fix the actual failure point instead of covering the symptom. By diagnosing the water path first and then rebuilding the flashing, seals, and membrane seams that were letting weather in, we stopped the leak where it began. Matching the shingle color on top means the home is protected and still looks intact — the goal on the coast, where every roof detail is tested by salt and wind.

Narragansett, RI
Narragansett is defined by the water — the Pier, the seawall, Point Judith, and miles of shoreline that make it one of Rhode Island’s most beloved summer towns. That same salt air and coastal wind are hard on roofs, which is why homes here need details that are sealed and maintained, not just shingles that look good on day one. Pinnacle is proud to keep Narragansett homes dry through every nor’easter.
