Scope of Work
The Pinnacle crew began with a full tear-off of the problem area, removing every piece of vinyl siding that had been applied to the sloped surface of the addition. What they found underneath was exactly what you’d expect when water has been migrating through lap seams for years: stained sheathing, softened plywood, and early-stage rot — the kind of hidden damage that often requires emergency roof repair at the connection point where the addition framing met the original house. Multiple sheets of compromised plywood were pulled and replaced with fresh CDX sheathing to restore a solid, code-compliant nail base.
With the deck restored, the team installed a complete layer of Grace ice and water shield across the entire repaired slope — a critical step for any storm damage repair on complex geometry — not just at the eaves, but full coverage. On a mansard-profile roof where pitch changes create natural water collection points, standard underlayment coverage isn’t enough. Every transition was individually addressed: the pitch change from steep to shallow slope received custom-bent drip edge and PVC trim boards to create a clean, watertight handoff between roof planes. Step flashing at the sidewall junction was replaced with new aluminum step flashing woven into each shingle course.
What We Installed (And Why)

The HDZ line also features GAF’s StrikeZone nailing area, which is 630% larger than standard nailing zones. On a complex roof geometry with multiple pitch changes, this wider target area means every nail lands in the manufacturer’s specified zone — a detail that matters because nails placed outside the zone can void the WindProven warranty.
