This colonial on Mallard Road South in South Kingstown was ready for a full exterior transformation, and the homeowner wanted both the walls and the roof handled as one coordinated project. They chose Everlast composite siding in Seaside Gray for its salt-air resilience and low upkeep, crowned by an Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration roof in Quarry Gray. Refreshing both surfaces together gave the home a unified, coastal-modern look and a weather-tight shell built to shrug off South County winters.
Scope of Work
Our crew stripped the old siding down to the sheathing, checked for soft spots, and wrapped the walls in a continuous weather barrier before hanging the new Everlast composite panels and finishing the corners, windows, and rakes with crisp white PVC trim. On the roof side we tore off to the deck, laid ice-and-water shield along the eaves and valleys, rolled out synthetic underlayment, and installed the Owens Corning Duration shingles with new drip edge, starter strips, and ridge cap. You can see more of our siding work in our project galleries.
What We Installed (And Why)
Everlast composite siding is engineered for exactly this kind of coastal exposure. Its triple-composite formula resists moisture, fading, and impact far better than traditional wood or vinyl, so it holds its color and shape through heavy sun and driving rain without rot or repainting. Pairing it with the Owens Corning TruDefinition Duration roof gave the whole envelope a matched level of longevity, with the shingles’ SureNail Technology adding real grip in high winds.
The Seaside Gray siding was picked to nod to the shoreline setting, and the bright white PVC trim frames every window and gable for contrast that reads clean rather than busy. Above it, the Quarry Gray Duration shingles carry a subtle multi-tone blend that keeps the roof from looking flat, tying the brick chimney and the new siding together into one cohesive palette.

Good To Know: Does composite siding really hold up better than vinyl near the coast?
Yes, and it comes down to how the material handles moisture and temperature swings. Ordinary vinyl can warp, crack in cold snaps, and fade under constant sun, all of which happen faster within a few miles of the water. Everlast’s composite core is denser and more dimensionally stable, so it stays flat and keeps its finish for decades. When it is installed over a full weather barrier the way we did here, wind-driven rain has nowhere to sneak in behind the panels.
Why This Approach Works
Tackling the siding and roof as a single project meant every transition, from the fascia down to the trim, was flashed and sealed as one continuous system instead of two jobs that never quite line up. That eliminates the seams and mismatched details where water usually finds its way in, and it left the homeowner with a coordinated exterior that will look and perform as a whole for years.
