Scope of Work

What We Installed (And Why)

This was a complete siding replacement: the old, weathered cladding came off, a fresh weather-resistant house wrap went on over the sheathing, and new horizontal lap siding was installed over the top. That house wrap is the quiet hero of the job. It sits behind the visible siding and blocks wind-driven rain from reaching the sheathing, while still letting the wall breathe so moisture vapor does not get trapped inside the assembly and cause rot. Because the whole house was re-wrapped rather than patched, the barrier is continuous with no gaps for water to exploit.

The lap siding itself was hung with proper overlap and fastening so each row sheds water cleanly onto the row below, the way lapped cladding is designed to work. Corners, window heads, and every penetration were flashed and sealed to keep those vulnerable spots watertight over the long term. Fasteners were set to hold the panels securely while still allowing the natural expansion and contraction that comes with New England temperature swings. The house wrap is the second line of defense that keeps that moisture off your sheathing and framing and then lets it drain harmlessly back out. Reusing old, torn wrap or skipping it entirely to save a little time is exactly how homes end up with hidden rot and expensive structural repairs down the road, so we install a fresh continuous barrier on every full siding replacement. It is cheap insurance for the most important part of your wall.
