Narragansett Storm Damage Roof Restoration in Pewterwood

Like most Pinnacle projects, the work was completed efficiently — minimizing disruption for the property owner.

This project was handled through an insurance claim; Pinnacle documented everything and worked directly with the adjuster — see how our storm/insurance process works.

This Narragansett home, wrapped in gray cedar-shake-style shingle siding with an arched Palladian window and a rear wood deck strung with lights, sits close enough to the coast that every storm is a test. When one moved through and damaged the roof, water threatened the interior fast, and the owners needed the home protected right away, not weeks later. Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights got a dry-in on immediately, then restored the full roof in Pewterwood CertainTeed Landmark shingles while managing the insurance claim. Scope of Work

Speed matters when a coastal storm opens a roof, so our first move was a fast, secure dry-in to stop water from reaching the interior while we documented the damage in full. With the home protected, we photographed every affected plane, the chimney, and the skylight curbs, and met the adjuster on site so the claim captured the true scope. After approval, the crew stripped the old roof to the deck, replaced any wet or wind-loosened sheathing, and installed ice-and-water shield at the eaves and around the skylights, plus synthetic underlayment across the whole roof. New drip edge, flashing, the Pewterwood shingles, and fresh gutters completed the restoration. Our Storm Damage Restoration service is built around getting you dry first and restored right after.

What We Installed (And Why)

The restored roof is Pewterwood by CertainTeed Landmark, a soft gray blend that complements the home’s gray shingle siding and coastal palette. On a roof with skylights and a prominent chimney, the dimensional Landmark shingle keeps those features looking integrated rather than patched, and its wind resistance is a real advantage this close to the water.

The layers below the shingles are where a coastal roof earns its keep. Ice-and-water shield was run along the eaves and carefully wrapped around each skylight curb, the exact spots where wind-driven rain tends to work in, and full synthetic underlayment shields the deck. New flashing was fitted at the chimney and skylights, and new gutters were hung to move storm runoff cleanly off the roof and away from the home, protecting the fascia and foundation through the next heavy weather. For a home this close to the shore, that combination of sealed penetrations and proper drainage is what keeps a coastal roof watertight season after season.

Good To Know: How fast can you protect my home after storm damage?

Usually right away. When a storm opens a roof, the priority is a dry-in, a secure temporary cover that stops water from reaching your ceilings, insulation, and belongings while the insurance claim is processed. Getting that protection on quickly can prevent thousands in interior damage and keeps the claim focused on the roof itself. From there, the permanent restoration follows on its own timeline, but you are not left exposed while the paperwork works through.

Why This Approach Works

Near the coast, the difference between a minor storm event and a major loss is often how fast the home gets covered. A prompt dry-in protects the interior, thorough documentation protects the claim, and a full restoration with sealed eaves, wrapped skylight curbs, renewed flashing, and new gutters protects the house for the long run. Sequencing the work this way means the homeowner avoids interior damage while the claim proceeds and ends up with a roof ready for the next storm.
