Like most Pinnacle projects, the work was completed efficiently — minimizing disruption for the property owner.
This project was handled through an insurance claim; Pinnacle documented everything and worked directly with the adjuster — see how our storm/insurance process works.
This Providence Victorian is impossible to miss, with its octagonal corner turret capped by a conical shingled roof and finial, a wraparound covered porch on turned posts, and multiple steep cross-gables trimmed with decorative woodwork above a brick chimney. When a storm tore into the aging roof, the ornate rooflines that give the home its character were also the sections most exposed to the wind. Pinnacle Roofing & Skylights restored the entire roof in Colonial Slate CertainTeed Landmark shingles, and handled the insurance claim from the first inspection through the final course. Scope of Work
The job began with a full storm inspection and photo documentation of every damaged plane, valley, and the turret, so nothing would be missed when the claim was filed. We dried the home in with tarps where the wind had opened it up, then worked directly with the adjuster to make sure the scope reflected the real condition of the roof. Once the claim was approved, the crew tore off the failed shingles down to the deck, replaced any compromised sheathing, and laid ice-and-water shield along the eaves and valleys and synthetic underlayment across the field. New drip edge, step flashing at the brick chimney, and the Colonial Slate shingles followed, finished with a ridge vent to keep the attic breathing. Our full Storm Damage Restoration process is built to move at this pace without cutting corners.
What We Installed (And Why)
The finished roof is Colonial Slate by CertainTeed Landmark, a blended-gray architectural shingle that reads as slate from the street and suits the home’s Victorian detailing far better than a flat, single-tone shingle would. On a roof with this many gables, hips, and the turret, the dimensional shadow lines of the Landmark shingle help the eye follow the geometry instead of flattening it.
Underneath the shingles is the part that actually keeps the weather out. Ice-and-water shield seals the eaves and valleys where wind-driven rain and ice dams do their worst, and the synthetic underlayment adds a second water-shedding layer over the whole deck. Fresh step flashing was cut in around the brick chimney, one of the most common leak points on an older home, and the ridge vent restores the balanced airflow that a storm-battered roof often loses.

Good To Know: Will my insurance cover a full roof restoration after a storm?
In many cases, yes. When a storm damages enough of a roof that it can no longer be reliably repaired, an insurance policy will often cover a full restoration rather than a patch. The key is documentation. Because we photograph the damage thoroughly and meet the adjuster on site, the claim reflects the true scope of the loss instead of a quick guess. We do not decide what your policy pays, but we make sure the condition of your roof is clearly and accurately presented so the process is fair.
Why This Approach Works
Storm restoration only works when the paperwork and the craftsmanship move together. Documenting the damage properly protects the claim, the dry-in protects the home while the claim is processed, and a full tear-off with new underlayment and flashing protects the house for decades afterward. On an intricate Victorian roof, skipping steps at the turret, valleys, or chimney is exactly where future leaks start, so we treat those details as the heart of the job rather than an afterthought.
