Westerly, RI Storm Damage Restoration — Fast Tarp, Full Documentation, and Claim Support

Like most Pinnacle roofing projects, the work was completed efficiently — minimizing disruption for the homeowner.

When a storm rolled through the Charles Avenue neighborhood in Westerly, this homeowner needed a roofer who could move fast, protect the house, and stand beside them through the insurance process. Pinnacle responded with an emergency dry-in to stop the water, a thorough inspection to document every point of damage, and hands-on storm damage restoration that guided the claim from first report to finished roof.

Scope of Work

Our first priority was protection: we secured the compromised areas with an emergency tarp and dry-in so no more water could reach the deck or the living space below. From there, our team performed a detailed storm damage inspection — photographing the wind-lifted and impacted areas, mapping the damage across each roof plane, and assembling documentation the insurance adjuster could actually use. Once the claim was approved, we moved into permanent restoration, rebuilding the roof back to a weather-tight, code-current system.

What We Installed (And Why)

A storm-restored roof is only as good as the layers underneath it, so we rebuilt this system from the deck up. Any compromised decking was replaced with solid sheathing, and we installed ice-and-water shield at the eaves, valleys, and penetrations — the exact spots where wind-driven rain and ice tend to find their way in. Over the field we rolled out synthetic underlayment, a tougher, more tear-resistant secondary barrier than old-fashioned felt.

On top of that foundation went new architectural asphalt shingles, set off with fresh drip edge, starter strips at the perimeter, and ridge cap shingles along the peaks. Flashing at walls and penetrations was renewed so the vulnerable transitions stay sealed, and we balanced the roof’s intake and exhaust ventilation to help the whole assembly breathe and last. Because the shingle brand and color weren’t confirmed from labels on this project, we’re describing the system honestly rather than naming a product we can’t verify.

Good To Know: Will my insurance actually cover storm roof damage?

In many cases, yes — wind and storm damage are commonly covered perils on a homeowner’s policy, but approval hinges on clear, thorough documentation. That’s exactly where we add value. We inspect the entire roof, photograph every affected area, and translate what we find into a report your adjuster can work from. We’re glad to meet the adjuster on-site, and we walk you through each step so the claim moves forward without you having to become a roofing expert overnight.

Why This Approach Works

Storm response is a race against the next rainfall. By tarping and drying-in immediately, we stop secondary damage — soaked insulation, stained ceilings, warped decking — before it multiplies and complicates the claim. Then, rebuilding from the deck up with modern underlayment, ice-and-water protection, and proper flashing means the finished roof isn’t just a patch over a bad day; it’s a system engineered to stand up to the next New England storm.
